SensDx and the team of prof. Krzysztof Pyrc from Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University undertook joint activities to develop an ultrafast diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19).
Four weeks after the initiation of the collaborative work with the Jagiellonian University and Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine, we reached the first step – protein selection – on the road to developing a fast, specific and sensitive SARS-CoV-2 detection test.
There are still three more steps to go!
The new test will be based on our SensDx platform and will be aimed for use outside of the laboratory. It will allow for the rapid screening at sites where it is not possible to carry out the full diagnostics, e.g., at the airport or the station. We hope to reduce the risk of the epidemic by identifying infected patients that may transmit the virus to the population. We also hope to deliver a solution for this and future outbreaks.
The whole team will endeavor to put the coronavirus test on the market in the coming months.
